What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
The concept of my project shows the skills that i have developed. I have aimed high throughout the development and learnt so much about a programme that previously i knew nothing about. Skills that i thought i was entering this module with were organisation and researching, also the ailbility to record the stages of my development and analyse each idea as i am working. Yet i found that even these skills were tested. Although i backed up my work several times i found that i had issues where my work was lost and i had to spend time reloading it. Also, my researching skills were used more than usual, as i felt that i needed to research about the skills that i might need, and after my first tutorial i started back at the idea development, which this time i managed to have another idea within hours and made some fast and decisive decisions, which i have never achieved before. This i believe is the greatest skill that i have developed this module, as i think that the fast decision gave me more time to design and develop the idea. This i achieved by starting researching again and looking into more after effects work and designers styles. Skills related to after effects would be endless, as i have learnt everything from the basics, and shortcuts to the complicated camera angles and 3d effects.

These i am all proud of as at the start of the Best and Worst and again at the start of the top ten i had little confidence and opted for a simple and very mundane idea, but by trial and error i have developed confidence and more knowledge than i thought i would achieve. iWeb design is an additional skills that i have got, and one that i will be using alot more, this as i think it is a successful and more professional method of presenting work, even in Crits. It has been a very demanding and at time testing piece of software that i thought would be easy to do, especially after the first workshop, but as it grew it became more intense. I have enjoyed seeing the site grow and has shown me the quantity of deign that i have put into my work. One aspect that i think made my iWeb successful was the developement sheets, as i was able to organise and plan which is a necessary when developing a thorough Website.

What approaches to generating work and solutions to problems have you developed and how have they helped?

In comparison to the last Module, design for print. I think that being decisive has benefitted me, i have been able to start with a simple idea, which i got from working from my Christmas brief, and then research more to develop a suitable idea that fits the brief and the subject. Also resulting me having more time to develop the idea. I think that i have been more visual, this as i have included every design step that i have taken, especially for the iWeb design.This helped when displaying the work on the website. As i think that it will be clear to an audience where i have come from. These aspects are things that i highlighted in the last evaluation and i am proud to feel like i have achieved my first step in improving my weaknesses. The other method of generating work that helped me is to keep my aim and method clarified, this helped as I had a constant specific title to keep to.

What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?
The strengths that I feel I have now are being more confident and knowledgeable when working with technology and also backing up work. Also my skills in development have improved i feel as i believe that i have explored more within design and fit them well to the limitations of technology and the production method. Again, i feel that i have produced some strong work for digital media and although not confident in it as first, i am still able to be passionate about the work that i produce. Another strength is my aim for perfection, this has stood out in this, as the slightest second in an animation makes a difference. This i think has helped in my ability to create and explore more, in addition to this the quantity of trails has been the biggest help. Allowing me to adapt to the technology and the software capabilities.

What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how could you exploit these more fully?

The weaknesses that I think I have had with this digital module is that the technology let me down at times, this I know we were prepared for, however I have wasted a lot of my time fixing and re-loading work that has been lost and damaged. The other aspect of technology that i feel was a weakness was the skills. I needed to develop my skills, as although I learnt new a lot I feel that I should have learnt them quicker. Therefore meaning I had longer to develop them along side this brief.

As for iweb I feel that I should have started it at the same time as the animation and documented every week, rather than develop it in the last few weeks. Also spending more time going into more detail in the development stages, I would like to have shown every single stage of the process, even more than I have shown.
Lastly I would have liked to have felt more prepared, as the last week to me felt rushed, and even though I was completed the day before I would have liked more time to tweak.

Identify five things that you will do different next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
Although i have stated that i have been successful in being visual, i think that this could still improve as i would like it to be in more depth, so that my journey is clearer to an audience. Further to this i think that a weakness lies in the development of the animation, as although the storyboards and some design sheets are there, i would have liked to have more trials, more detail and exploration for my work, down to the inch. I just think that i am improving slowly on this one. Allow more time for printing and final presentation of work. As it is just as important and should be timetabled in with the rest of the work. I think that my time management has been the best as it had ever been so far. I was able to complete the day before the deadline, this aspect i am proud of, as i have had to the time to re-look and re-evaluate my work and edit before the hand in. However, i think that i would have like to be been more prepared, this as i think the time at the end of a module enables more evaluating of work and improving sections before the hand in. But maybe this is just me. Another development stage is the crits and i would have liked to have been slightly more developed at the stage of the group crit, this as i felt unprepared. I struggled to know what questions to ask to get the direct and useful feedback that i required. Although i did to some extent, i would have like to have been more prepared. Although i was low on time to explore a few different ideas i would say that Try out more varying designs and don’t be afraid to go off on a tangent, it could prove more interesting than the idea at that current moment in time. I have graded myself quite high on the evaluation as i believe that i have put the time and effort into the module and am proud of the work outcome.

Although I was skeptical about this brief at the beginning, I believe that it has worked successfully. But I am unsure whether I would ever work with this again.

Since i have been interested in work placements with packaging as a design element i thought that i would create some packaging for the Cd, this only as i had time to develop a simple CD case. Although its simple it just finishes the Module on a positive note.

After much development and trial i have finished my final animation.

This, overall I am am so proud of the outcome. It has worked so well.

From the Crits.... i have tried the suggestions, such as the zoom, however this was not possible to do as they weren't focused enough, and also as i had to use the camera to do so, it didn't work due to the other camera angles. As for the numbers in the areals, it was too late to go back and change the designs of the tv's and would have been too much to do before the deadline. Although next time i would have considered changing this as i think that it is a subtitle way to change the numbers and include them more in the design. On iWeb feedback, i didn't change the fonts as when i tried they all went missing and changed to Helvetica font when published as the fonts weren't recognised.

Summary of these sheets is to use different fonts in the Tvs, to try and make the links more noticable. Or highlight the links in iweb. Animation use, is it possible to use the areals as numbers? and zoom in on the adverts? They also stated that they liked ths music, or noise from the adverts themselves.

brief cd packaging research....

These are images and websites that i briefly researched into for the development of the cd packaging. I wanted to research the type of packaging that i would create for the packaging. First i wanted an idea of the packaging that already existed out there.

These are the types of cd packaging that i have found, they include the average packaging and the alternative packaging that exists. Which to be honest appeal more, i like the slightly different as i think that they are more personal and have more character..

Printed Cardboard Sleeves - the most vies able option for my design thoughts and to fit the cd and the contents.

Digipack - half cardboard and half cd holder...

Jewel boxes - although these are the most common, they are all plastic and i wanted like my cd a more personal and hand rendered theme.

Paper/Tyvek sleeves - these could be a method that i take to the cd packaging.
A few designs that i have found from searching for cd packaging designs.

These designs have been chosen for the design and a few for the packaging design and to show how it works successfully.

After showing my first initial designs in the tutorial we came to the decision that they were far to simple and lacked rhythm and were far from engaging with the audience.

The first initial ideas that i had designed with the Title 'Top Ten Animated Adverts' in mind this was the start of the design deveopment.
These videos are simple initial designs that i created while trying to work with the restrictions of the rectangle shape of a Tv screen, this as i had not thought fully of a creative design. Which i was initially had issues with as i felt like i had a created a hard subjects for myself without knowing it over Christmas. A subject with many restrictions.

I have been browsing the web for some posters for Animated films,
Looking at new, old, classic and unique poster designs.
I have been able to find a few but not to many different ones, i was
hoping to find some variations in designs, and some other animated
films.

I love looking at these posters as a set, although they don't all conform they do share similarities within typography.

As i have found the Mayfly advert for the Vodafone animation, i thought that i
would look at other adverts that are vodafone, this as i could use the variety
and the style, also looking at the colours, to see if there is any similarities
in the posters and the adverts. This could be useful as i could follow the most
common colours for the brief itself.

Then i decided to look at the coca-cola advertising, as i have many best coke animated adverts
i thought that by looking at the posters i could gain further understanding to their style.
I chose only these few to show as they are all similar, also i can draw out the most common
colours from these few. These being Red, Black, Yellow and lastly Orange.

This i know isn't a poster as such but it is however the relevant Website for
the Audi Car itself. I chose to include it as i thought that it represented
the car advert, as it is the same style.

I have chosen to look at Best Animated Adverts, I think that the
Coca Cola adverts are really good to look at for this.
My favourite advert from them is the Happiness one. Its so
random that it keeps me focused all the time. There is so much
going on in it. I also remember the Christmas adverts, as they
always make me feel festive!

This is my first trial of fold made by stop motion...there are adjustments that i need to make such as speed etc..but i am impressed with this trial.

so starting to learn the after effects software. These are the peieces
that show the skills learned today.

This is the second word that i am using, and for the workshop today we had to create a stop motion to fit the word, although i need to try actually folding the word rather than the paper its on. But for development it shows that the idea is there and look visually pleasing.
